Accounts & Finance Assistant

BCR Group Jersey

Join a team that's building something different

At BCR Group, we believe that great businesses are built by great people.

We are a modern, ambitious and growing professional services group, bringing together expertise across legal, accounting, tax, fiduciary and business advisory services. From supporting individuals and families to advising entrepreneurs and established businesses, our focus is always the same: providing exceptional service whilst building long-term relationships based on trust.

As our Group continues to grow, we're looking for an Accounts & Finance Assistant to become an important part of our finance team.

This is more than an accounts role. It's an opportunity to join a business where you'll be trusted, supported and encouraged to develop your skills whilst working alongside experienced professionals who genuinely enjoy what they do.

Whether you're already working as an Accounts Assistant, Bookkeeper or Finance Assistant, or you're looking to take the next step in your accounting career, we'd love to hear from you.

About the role

This is a full-time role (35 hours per week) and you will join a small, friendly and collaborative finance team supporting the businesses that make up BCR Group. Because we operate across a number of professional disciplines, the work is varied, interesting and constantly evolving. No two weeks are ever quite the same, giving you the opportunity to broaden your experience and build valuable practical skills.

You will play an important role in ensuring our finance function operates efficiently, accurately and professionally, whilst helping support the continued growth of the Group.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Bookkeeping using Xero across a number of Group companies.
  • Preparing and maintaining accurate bank reconciliations.
  • Preparing GST returns.
  • Processing purchase invoices and supplier payments.
  • Supporting credit control and debtor management.
  • Assisting with month-end procedures and management accounts.
  • Reconciling balance sheet accounts.
  • Maintaining accurate financial records across multiple businesses.
  • Working closely with colleagues across the Group to resolve finance queries.
  • Supporting finance projects and helping improve systems and processes.
  • Providing general assistance across the finance function whenever required.

As our business continues to evolve, so too will your role. We actively encourage our people to learn new skills, embrace technology and continually develop professionally.

What success looks like

The person who succeeds in this role will not simply be good with numbers.

They will be someone who enjoys solving problems, notices the detail that others sometimes miss and takes genuine pride in producing accurate work.

They will enjoy working as part of a team, whilst also being trusted to manage their own workload. They will be curious, adaptable and willing to learn, understanding that in a growing business, opportunities often come to those who are prepared to step forward and get involved.

Experience

Ideally, you will bring:

  • Previous experience as an Accounts Assistant, Finance Assistant or Bookkeeper.
  • Strong working knowledge of Xero or SASS bookkeeping system.
  • Experience preparing bank reconciliations.
  • Experience preparing GST returns.
  • Good understanding of bookkeeping principles.
  • Strong Microsoft Excel skills.
  • Excellent attention to detail.
  • Good communication and organisational skills.

Experience within a legal practice, fiduciary business or wider professional services environment would be highly advantageous, although not essential.

Above all, we are looking for someone with the right attitude.

What we are like

Culture is not something we talk about once a year, it is something we try to demonstrate every day. We believe in treating people with respect, trusting them to do their jobs and giving them every opportunity to develop.

We encourage our people to bring ideas, embrace new technology and continually look for better ways of working. We know that businesses improve when people feel comfortable asking questions, challenging existing processes and contributing to positive change.

We work hard because we care about our clients, but we also believe that work should be enjoyable. We support one another, celebrate success together and recognise that everyone has an important role to play in the continued success of the Group.

You will find approachable colleagues, supportive managers and a business that genuinely wants people to enjoy coming to work.
