Legal Assistant (Dispute Resolution)

Core Responsibilities

The successful candidate will work closely with the advocates and fee earners in the Dispute Resolution team, assisting with the full range of contentious legal services provided to our clients. This is a varied and hands-on role, ideally suited to someone looking to build a long-term legal career.

 

Duties to include:

  • Support and assistance with day-to-day administrative tasks including filing, e-filing, archiving, diary management, and document formatting.
  • Performing legal and procedural research using online databases and local legal resources.
  • Reviewing, summarising, and collating reports, pleadings, evidence, correspondence and other legal documents.
  • Attending court, mediations, and client meetings as required to assist advocates, including note-taking and logistical support.
  • Preparing accurate file notes of client meetings, witness interviews, and court appearances.
  • Preparing, indexing, paginating, and collating bundles for court hearings and mediations in accordance with court rules and internal procedures.
  • Drafting legal documents, witness statements, research memoranda, advices, and formal correspondence under supervision.
  • Assisting with case and document management, including maintaining accurate records, time entries, and assisting with disclosure and discovery processes.
  • Liaising professionally with clients,counsel, experts, court staff, and other third parties on behalf of the team.
  • Supporting the Advocates with business development and marketing activities as required, including preparation of client alerts or briefing notes.

 

Key Skills & Attributes

The successful candidate will be bright, enthusiastic, and detail-oriented, with a solid academic background and a genuine desire to learn and progress in a legal career.

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with excellent grammar and attention to detail.
  • Good IT proficiency, including MS Office and ideally document management systems.
  • Well-organised, proactive and capable of working independently as well as part of a team.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks effectively, meet deadlines, and prioritise workload in a fast-paced environment.
  • A law degree or equivalent legal qualification is desirable, or the candidate should be working towards the same.
  • Experience in a legal or professional services environment is preferred but not essential.
  • Commitment to confidentiality, professionalism, and upholding the firm’s standards of client service and reputation within the legal community.
