Overview
BCR Law’s Property team is seeking a motivated and organised Paralegal to join its busy practice. This is an excellent opportunity for an individual at any stage of their paralegal career to support a broad range of property and related transactions within a professional and collaborative team.
The successful candidate will work closely with the team’s lawyers and fee earners, providing administrative and transactional support throughout the lifecycle of matters. The role is varied and requires a proactive individual who can work accurately, manage competing priorities, adapt to evolving ways of working and demonstrate a willingness to learn and develop.
Core Responsibilities
- Manage file-opening procedures, including associated client due-diligence and compliance checks.
- Assist with property transactions, including:
- Preparing and registering powers of attorney;
- Issuing and following up statutory search and enquiry emails;
- Maintaining and updating weekly court lists;
- Drafting and updating completion statements; and
- Collating transaction documents and supporting papers.
- Maintain safe-custody documents and associated records accurately and securely.
- Scan, archive and maintain electronic matter files in accordance with the firm’s procedures.
- Assist with billing and other matter-finance administration.
- Provide general administrative support to the Property team and assist with other property-related tasks as required.
Key Skills and Attributes
- Excellent IT skills, including confidence using Microsoft Office applications, particularly Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with a professional and courteous manner.
- Excellent organisational skills and close attention to detail.
- Ability to work effectively in a deadline-driven environment while maintaining a calm and methodical approach.
- A flexible, adaptable and proactive approach, with the ability to prioritise, multitask and support a broad range of work.
- Ability to work both collaboratively as part of a team and independently when appropriate.
- A commitment to maintaining the highest standards of confidentiality, discretion and professional conduct at all times.
