Liberate Seminar

11/19/2026 1:30 PM

BCR Law LLP, in collaboration with Liberate Jersey, invites you to a practical session exploring disability, reasonable adjustments and discrimination in the workplace.

Bringing together BCR Law’s employment law expertise and Liberate Jersey’s experience in equality, diversity and inclusion, the session will look at both the legal responsibilities of employers and the reality of disability in everyday life and at work.

We will provide an overview of discrimination law in Jersey, with a particular focus on disability discrimination, including how disability is defined, different forms of discrimination and the medical and social models of disability.

The session will explore when reasonable adjustments might arise throughout the employment relationship, from recruitment and day-to-day working arrangements to performance management and exit decisions. We will also consider what makes an adjustment reasonable, how an employee’s needs may change over time and the factors a Tribunal may take into account.

Through practical exercises, case examples and discussion, attendees will consider how to recognise when adjustments may be needed and how employers can respond appropriately. This will include examples involving menopause and workplace stress, as well as wider issues such as accessibility, attitudes towards disability and exclusion from the workplace.

The session is designed to give employers practical points to take away and consider within their own organisations.
