Her expertise and experience lie in providing comprehensive advice to clients on various family law matters, including divorce, financial remedies, and children's issues such as financial provision, residence, contact, and leave to remove disputes. Huma has considerable experience in private, commercial and trust litigation as well as advising high net-worth clients concerning regulatory matters and financial mis-selling. Before moving to a career in Law, Huma had a background in medicine specialising in immunology and infectious diseases as well as corporate governance and compliance.
Growing up, I had aspiring dreams to be a professional ice-skater and a BBC News TV presenter. Yet, life took me down a different path—one rooted in academia, with explorations in medicine and scientific research. I had always been fascinated by the law with its ability to shape lives, create change, and bring justice to those in need.
I moved to Jersey to be by the sea and pursue a career in law, seeking both professional fulfilment and a more balanced lifestyle. Being close to my family was important to me, and Jersey offered the perfect blend of career opportunities and the work-life balance I desired.
My role in family law is more than just legal practice; it’s about guiding people through some of the most difficult and emotionally charged moments of their lives. Whether navigating issues of child contact and residence, divorce proceedings, or financial remedies, my priority is always to achieve fair and just outcomes for my clients.
Family law demands a unique skill set—one that balances professionalism with deep empathy. Being approachable, non-judgmental, and understanding of people’s struggles is essential, yet so is offering strong, clear advice and support. Managing client relationships sensitively while finding solutions is at the heart of this work. For me, it was important to choose a career that had a personal touch—one where I could build trust, foster connections, and truly make a difference.
This commitment to purpose is something I learned from my father—the idea that meaningful work should not only be personally fulfilling but also serve others. When a client expresses gratitude for my help, it’s a reminder of why I chose this path. Seeing the impact of my work and knowing I’ve helped someone through a challenging time is one of the most rewarding aspects of what I do.
