Growing up in Kenya, I was always drawn to how lawyers were portrayed: confident, articulate and influential. Shows like suits planted an early seed in me. But it wasn’t until 2017, during the nullification of the Kenyan Presidential election, that my interest went full-on personal. I remember sitting with my dad, glued to the television, watching advocates make their submissions and I kept thinking, “Yes, that’s going to be me one day…just with better suits and maybe fewer nerves.”

Then came high school where I really thought I would become an architect as I was good in mathematics and Physics. But right after finishing high school I unexpectedly found myself in love with law all over again in a way I still struggle to explain. Soon after I was awarded a scholarship that brought me to jersey and that twist of events changed my life.

I did work in a bank after high school as a relations officer and it really taught me how to listen, understand people’s problem and find a practical solution. Later a short internship at a law firm in Malindi confirmed that Law is where I truly belonged. At heart I am driven by the chance to use law to make a real, positive impact on people’s lives.
