Expertise
Humanity
As a Director of BCR Professional Services, I am responsible for the financial stewardship, strategic development and support the day-to-day operational oversight of the business including high quality and practical accounting services to support our clients.
I place particular emphasis on joined up working across the wider BCR Group. For many clients, accounting, and tax sit alongside legal, estate planning and fiduciary considerations. By ensuring that BCR Pro integrates seamlessly with our legal and private client teams so that clients benefit from coordinated advice and a consistent experience, supported by strong financial insight.
Having qualified as an accountant in 2010, I have worked across trust and fiduciary services, financial services, audit, and local trading businesses. This breadth of experience has given me a detailed understanding of how different types of organisations operate in practice, how value is created and where risk typically arises. I advise clients ranging from local owner managed businesses to high-net-worth individuals, private equity backed structures and more complex international arrangements.
I have a strong interest in technology and how it can be used intelligently to improve financial reporting, compliance and decision making. I work extensively with modern accounting platforms, data driven reporting and digital workflows, and I am particularly interested in businesses operating in technology led sectors, including regulated financial services, virtual asset service providers, and growth focused commercial ventures. Alongside this, I bring a practical understanding of private equity structures, governance expectations, and commercial reporting requirements.
Before joining BCR, I was Regional Managing Partner of Smith and Williamson in Jersey (New Evelyn), where my role was to manage the professional services side of the business. I am a Fellow of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants and bring more than two decades of experience in professional services leadership.
I am a strong believer that excellent accountancy and tax advice is about more than numbers. It is about understanding how people and businesses operate, anticipating challenges and providing clear, calm guidance that supports confident decision making. At BCR Pro, my and the boards aim is to ensure that our clients feel well advised, well supported and well prepared, whatever stage they are at in their business or personal financial journey.
I am the Chief Executive Officer of BCR Law LLP and I am responsible for the development and implementation of the firm’s strategy and direction, as well as its day to day management with a strong focus on financial operations. I work closely with the Partners and leadership team to ensure that BCR Law consistently aligns its actions with its vision while meeting the evolving needs of our clients and our people. This is my second time with the firm, having previously been Chief Financial Officer and a Group Partner from 2016 to 2020.
Much of my current role is centred on strengthening BCR Law’s position as a leading Jersey firm and driving service line development. This includes building on our recognised strengths across litigation, family, property and business law, while developing new services that respond to client demand. A particular focus for 2025 is ensuring that our teams deliver a joined up approach across the wider BCR Group, combining legal, tax and estate planning expertise to provide clients with truly comprehensive solutions.
Another priority for me is ensuring that we have a deep understanding of our clients and the work we do with them. By continuously improving how we deliver our services, we reinforce our reputation as trusted advisors, providing clear, practical and strategic advice that achieves real world outcomes. For me, client service excellence is about more than technical skill. It is about how we build relationships, how we communicate and how we support people through complex and often personal challenges. My role is to ensure that our teams have the tools, time and support they need to deliver on this commitment.
I am a strong advocate for embedding our values of Excellence, Delivery, Respect and Elegance into everything we do. I believe that law firms succeed when they combine expertise with humanity, and I want BCR Law to be recognised for both. This means creating a culture where collaboration, authenticity and client focus sit at the heart of our approach. I personally champion initiatives that strengthen inclusion, wellbeing and professional growth within the firm, with the aim that every member of our team feels valued, motivated and equipped to be the best version of themselves.
Prior to becoming Chief Executive, I was the Regional Managing Partner of Smith and Williamson (now Evelyn) in Jersey, where I advised businesses, private clients and prospective residents on taxation, structuring, business consultancy, accounting, residence and domicile matters. I am a Fellow of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (FCCA) and bring more than 20 years of senior leadership experience in professional and financial services.
As a child, I dreamt of becoming an oil tanker captain. I even began a course in Liverpool with that goal in mind. But those will know me will also know how clumsy I can be, so the realisation of helming a tanker full of crude oil played out some rather horrible scenarios in my head. It was then I realised that the oceans probably deserved better. So, I changed tack and switched to business and cybernetics.
After graduating, I joined Marconi (not my fault, look it up), followed by defence work in Cheltenham. Then came a weekend trip to Jersey to visit friends. That visit turned into a permanent move, and 24 years later, I’m still here and wouldn’t change a thing.
Jersey didn’t have much use for my engineering or defence background, so I pivoted, retrained as an accountant, and threw myself into understanding the local business landscape. Along the way, I have had the pleasure of working with many local businesses and met amazing talented people. One such person is our managing partner David Benest. He was looking for an accountant to support his new venture. I picked up the phone and invited him to lunch (To this day he still won't let me choose from the wine list). That was thirteen years ago and we’re still working together with an outstanding team around us helping to grow the law firm we can all be proud of, and one that will celebrate its 10th anniversary in 2026.
Professionally I like to live by these simple rules: I don’t have the right to ruin someone else’s day, no matter what’s going on in mine. I believe in giving people the time, tools, and support they need to become the best version of themselves. I am also convinced that leadership isn’t about being in charge, it’s about taking care of those in your charge.
