Rory is an England and Wales qualified solicitor in the private client team at BCR, advising on all aspects of private client law from wealth structuring and succession planning to wills and probate and capacity.
Prior to joining BCR Rory studied modern history at the University of Warwick before completing his legal conversion and masters in London, subsequently qualifying as a solicitor in Jersey at a leading offshore law firm where he completed a two-year training contract. Following qualification, Rory relocated to Singapore, where he continued to expand his repertoire as a legal associate, practicing BVI and Cayman law in a fast paced and demanding environment, working with private and corporate clients based across the Asia-Pacific region. During this period Rory advised on a broad range of offshore matters spanning private client, banking, corporate and commercial, investment funds, and capital market listings, including the establishment of BVI Vista trusts and Cayman Island mutual funds to assisting with NASDAQ IPOs and BVI wills. Rory’s multidisciplinary and cross-jurisdictional background enables him to provide pragmatic, commercially informed advice, particularly where private wealth matters intersect with operating businesses and complex structures.
Since returning to Jersey, Rory has focused on his private client practice, advising individuals, families and trustees on the full spectrum of private client matters alongside traditional estate administration, wills and capacity advice.
I was born in Jersey and consider myself a Jersey citizen first and foremost; however, my life has also been shaped by frequent intersections with Singapore, where my family moved during my childhood. I am grateful to have lived on two remarkable islands, and the perspective gained from these experiences has strongly influenced who I am today, both personally and professionally.
I am guided by the belief that integrity is doing the right thing, even when no one is watching—a principle that underpins my approach to my work in law and to life more broadly. It is reflected in a preference for consistency, care, and quiet commitment over spectacle.
Outside of law, I have a strong interest in modern history and would happily spend an entire day in a museum or castle. I also enjoy travelling, visiting National Trust sites, and walking Jersey’s country lanes. In that same spirit of steady, self-directed purpose, my long-term personal goal is to walk every lane in Jersey at some point during my life.
