Humanity

I qualified in 1992 when working for the firm of Mourant du Feu and Jeune (now Mourant) and the following year set up my own legal practice specialising in residential and commercial conveyancing and finance loan structures, but also dealing with general personal law matters in the areas of matrimonial and children issues and wills and probate.

My first job was as a trainee conveyancer in the firm of Troy and Michel (Advocate Brian Troy and Advocate Richard Michel) at 12 Hill Street, so I have come full circle back to 12 Hill Street and I worked with some wonderful people there and since.

In essence I am an old fashioned conveyancer and fervently believe that good advice is based on a fundamental knowledge of the customary law (essential in Jersey which has its foundation in Norman Customary law) and good practice and ethics. Staying up to date on new decisions of the Royal Court and new laws is also essential.

If there is one thing I am proud of an achievement it is acting for a private client in the assembly of one of the largest private residential property portfolios in Jersey. I have always said that as soon as I stop enjoying what I do, it is time to “get out”, but thankfully I still enjoy coming to the office and working with an amazing group of people.

In my private life I enjoy motorsport and golf, competing in both at a local level, but also I enjoy trips away, especially with my son and one of my cars to race tracks in France or the UK. One of my favourite tracks is Goodwood near Chichester, although I have driven both Le Man tracks as well as others in north-west France.I think if I have a moto it is “Eat, Sleep Motorsport, Repeat”.
