Things that nourish me:
The smell of sawdust in my workshop / fresh mountain air / St. Ouen’s sunsets / camping trips / my Canon 50mm lens / the depth and tone of a black and white photograph / sitting in the sun watching cricket / loud shirts / the feeling of cold sea water hitting my face / sunbathing on my paddleboard / hearing my kids laughing / lying in our hammock / the crack of a .22 round / cooking the perfect carbonara / European café culture / long weekend city breaks with my wife / the crunch of fresh snow under skis / a good war film.

At school I was always interest in science, particularly biology and chemistry and always thought that I would end up in the medical profession.
Over time, and thanks to work experience places at law firms during my school summer holidays, I developed an interest in law which led me to study law at university.
Having been born and raised in Jersey, I always knew that I would return to the Island after university which I ultimately did and I have worked in the legal profession in Jersey ever since.
For me, the most compelling aspect of the job is the human element. Every dispute we handle carries its own distinct nuances, shaped by the individuals on either side. While the legal principles we apply remain relatively constant, the way we interpret and adapt them often shifts to suit the unique circumstances of each case and the needs of our clients.
I am particularly driven by the satisfaction of achieving a strong result for my client, especially when the odds are stacked against them. There's a unique sense of fulfilment in overcoming challenges, thinking creatively under pressure, and turning a difficult situation into a positive outcome.
