In this recent Employment Tribunal decision, five former employees successfully claimed unpaid wages, notice pay, holiday pay, and redundancy payments after their employer (a Guernsey incorporated company) ceased trading in October 2023 due to insolvency. The claims, brought between January and February 2024, resulted in significant awards totalling over £57,000.00.
This case highlights the importance of employers fulfilling their statutory obligations. An employee who loses their job because of their employer entering insolvency proceedings may still be able to pursue their claims through the Tribunal.
